Words of Contradictory Wisdom

It takes a village to raise a child, but every village has an idiot. (Do you really want to take those chances?)

The pen is mightier than the sword, but actions speak louder than words.

Many hands make light work, but too many cooks spoil the broth.

The best things in life are free, but there's no such thing as a free lunch. (...unless you're on a business trip.)

Clothes make the man, but don't judge a book by its cover. (Mostly the latter: naked people do influence society.)

Opposites attract, but birds of a feather flock together.

Better safe than sorry, but no pain, no gain. Seek and ye shall find, but curiosity killed the cat.

Practice makes perfect, but no one is perfect. (So why try harder?)

You're never too old to learn, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but if it's out of sight, it's out of mind.

The bigger, the better, but the best things come in small packages. (I'm not sure if everything is better in Texas.)

All things in moderation. (Moderation being a thing.)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but the squeaky wheel gets greased, because silence is golden.

Good things come to those who wait, but time waits for no man. The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

You can't complain about this anymore. It's perfect!
