Star Wars Republic Commando

This is the first Star Wars game I've ever played. I remember borrowing it from a friend about 10 years ago. Between him and his family, they probably had all the Star Wars games ever released up to that point.

Star Wars Republic Commando is a first person shooter set in the Star Wars expanded universe. The story in the game is sort of disjoint, and ends abruptly. You go to three unique locations. Because you're in the middle of a long war, the second happens a year after the first.

This game came out about 10 years ago and its one of those unpolished games that you can tell was rushed out. You can especially tell in the interface and animations. I don't care how much training you have, you aren't going to stand there in the middle of a firefight and daintily press buttons on a bomb. And I don't care what's going on, I don't want to save my game after I'm dead and before I load my last one.

This game is somewhat short, clocking in at about 6 hours. To me, there's nothing obviously interesting going on, and is mostly just a shooting gallery. It seems more useless than Bioshock 2. I do not recommend this, and I don't see myself playing this game again.

... Plus multiplayer has the feel of Halo rocket-tag since it seems like half the weapons on a given map are 1-hit kill. And of course you spawn with the useless ones.

Hey Andrew! Thought it would be fun to comment on your blog.

Probably the friend mentioned complained on .
